Book Overview

by Paige Dearth (Author)

Everyone knows her brother's crime. Nobody knows her story.

For most of her life, Raven Ledger believed that no matter what happened, she and her twin brother Matthew would always have each other.

Born just two minutes apart, the twins shared the same difficult childhood-poverty, neglect, and years of instability. When they're separated and placed into different homes, Raven fights to hold on to the bond she once shared with her brother. But as they grow older, Matthew becomes increasingly distant, carrying pain no one seems to understand.

Then, during their senior year of high school, Matthew makes a choice that shatters countless lives.

Overnight, Raven is no longer seen as herself. She becomes known only as the shooter's sister.

A powerful story of family, loss, resilience, and identity, this novel follows one young woman as she struggles to reclaim her life after tragedy and answer a heartbreaking question: How well do we ever truly know the people we love?

About Paige Dearth

Paige Dearth, a victim of childhood sexual abuse, was raised in a poor family in Philadelphia. By her early twenties, she was a new mother with a heroin-addicted husband. But through sheer determination, Dearth would earn a master's degree and spend twenty-eight years working in corporate America. She realized her longtime dream of becoming a writer upon the 2011 release of her first novel, Believe Like A Child. Two more novels followed: When Smiles Fade and One Among Us. Dearth credits her ability to produce exciting and emotionally provocative stories to years of voraciously reading thrillers and horror novels. She aims to inspire her readers to think about the lifelong ramifications of traumatic childhood experiences. Dearth currently lives in Philadelphia with her husband. She enjoys healthy cooking and has plans to add a cookbook to her literary credentials.
