Victory in war requires great sacrifices, and none survive without committing terrible acts.
After the last fortress fell to the enemy, most people, including government officials, believed the war was over. But Colonel Leon Tyquese's beliefs go deeper than that. He could not, would not, abandon his people and their ideals. His brother rejected the war for good reason, but the pirate captain Red Sam is their only hope now, and Leon is willing to do whatever it takes to convince him to take up the fight once more.
His successful capture of the final enemy stronghold earned Max Canza a promotion to Primary, military commander of the Ordonian military and answerable only to the emperor himself. Now, he sees nothing left that can stop him and the soldiers he commands from creating a united human race. Max has no qualms about doing whatever it takes to achieve his people's centuries-old goal.
Leon and Sam know exactly how hard it will be to convince others to stand against such a powerful force, but the Ordeon Empire is intent on forcing its will upon others and they will do what they must to protect people's freedom.
This action-packed, military combat-focused story keeps graphic descriptions to a minimum while asking readers to consider how both sides can have noble goals yet work against each other. It is told from both sides of the conflict to show opposing characters struggling with similar questions. Fans of Babylon 5 will enjoy the multiple storylines woven throughout this book and the remaining installments. The ending will satisfy readers, but the fight will continue with the next book in this series.
