Unclaimed Persons - Paperback

by Kevin J. Garrity (Author)

Twenty plus years after having left Detroit 'for good, ' a self-described wanderer returns to his hometown searching for the lost city of his youth. Instead he discovers a society in transition, the world teetering somewhere on that fine edge between post-apocalyptic meltdown and genuine rebirth. His estranged sister hounds him for a missing inheritance. His brother doubts his very ability to survive the city. Questioning himself every step of the way, our man meets a wisecracking old friend with an agenda of his own, a strange girl who he believes might be his daughter, one former flame that would like to see him gone for good, and an apartment building full of eccentrics hiding issues of their own. Unclaimed Persons is a gripping tale about lost faith and newfound desire, about perseverance and loyalty in the face of doubt. Sometimes dark and brooding, this is a story of hope both lost and found, a struggle between past expectations and present circumstances. A novel that questions the very meaning of friendship and conviction within a fragmented society, Unclaimed Persons will leave the reader captivated by its stark realism.
