Zen Cho is a renowned Malaysian author of speculative fiction and fantasy. Her global reputation stems from her unique ability to intertwine elements of her southeast Asian heritage with elements of speculative fiction, offering readers a fascinating blend of cultures and themes. Born and raised in Selangor, Malaysia, she later moved to the UK, where her passion for writing blossomed. She has a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from the University of Cambridge, but her love for storytelling led her in an entirely different direction.
Ms. Cho gained international recognition and acclaim with the release of her debut novel, “Sorcerer to the Crown” – a stunning mix of Regency-era conventions and magic, lauded for its ingenuity and humor. This engaging story not only received widespread critical appreciation but also earned her the prestigious British Fantasy Award. She is also the author of the cyberpunk novella “The Order of the Pure Moon Reflected in Water” and several short story collections, including “Spirits Abroad” and “Cythonic: Malaysian Stories”.
