Geddy Lee

Geddy Lee is a Canadian-born musician, renowned as the epicenter and the distinctive voice of the iconic progressive rock band, Rush. Born Gary Lee Weinrib on July 29, 1953, Lee adopted the moniker "Geddy" from his mother's heavily accented pronunciation of his childhood nickname, "Gary." With prodigious aptitude for music, he became a self-taught bassist and frontman, contributing significantly to Rush's sound and progressive music as a whole.

In over four decades of existence, Rush, with Lee as its lead vocalist, bassist, and keyboardist, racked up an impressive roster of awards, selling more than 40 million albums worldwide. Known for his intricate basslines and high-register vocals, Lee's musicianship and innovation have been a pinnacle in the world of progressive rock and beyond.

Off stage, Geddy is recognised for his philanthropic efforts and his significant contributions to a variety of charities. Lee, a Wine Enthusiast, after his retirement from Rush, released 'The Big Beautiful Book of Bass', a must-read for any serious musician, providing unique insights into the world of bass guitars. Through the years, Lee has remained a towering and influential figure in rock music, his legacy accentuating the ubiquity of Rush and the endurance of progressive music.
