Isaac Asimov, an author renowned for his prodigious contribution to the science fiction genre, was born on January 2, 1920 in Petrovichi, Russia. He and his family migrated to the United States when he was only three years old, where he later earned degrees in chemistry from Columbia University, including a Ph.D. in 1948.
